The trail varies in length and difficulty, making it a perfect choice for all levels of trekkers. After the completion of each stage, hikers can rest and regain their strength before continuing the journey.
Vila Lipa’s guests who are not feeling up to undertake the entire 330-km-long challenge can easily break down the trail into two chunks that cover the area of Lake Bled:
The 15km-long section runs from Begunje and passes through Radovljica, leading to the shore of Lake Bled. Along the way you will find an array of cultural and natural attractions to explore; among them, the Slavko Avsenik Museum, dedicated to the most renowned Slovenian composer of national folk music, and the famous Elan skis factory.
Duration: approx. 3h 40min
Take a short break and discover the charming town of Radovljica, known for its rich tradition of beekeeping, and treat yourself to some of their honey delights. After arriving in Bled, head to Hotel Park to enjoy a traditional slice of the famous Bled Kremšnita (Cream Cake), a culinary treat made from puff pastry, fluffy custard, and cream.
The more demanding Stage 5 starts at Lake Bled. It runs by the foothills of the Pokljuka near the picturesque, sun-facing village of Gorje, continuing through the Pokljuka Gorge, over meadows, high pastures and dense forest scenery on the edge of Triglav National Park. The 21 km-long trail ends in Goreljek, not too far from the biathlon centre on Rudno polje, the venue for world competitions.
Duration: approx. 6h 40min
During summer the cattle are still grazed on the pastures of the Pokljuka Plateau. Refresh yourself with a glass of homemade sour milk, cottage cheese or “štruklji”, a traditional Slovenian dish, prepared by farmers at alpine meadows Zajavorniki, Zajamniki, Uskovnica, Konjščica.
